This policy explains what information the ApneaStudio app collects, why, and what you can do about it. ApneaStudio is published by Plug & Play Productions (“we”, “us”), based in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described here.
The short version: we collect only what the app needs to track your training, we do not run any advertising or third-party analytics, and we never sell your data. You can delete everything at any time from inside the app.
When you create an account we store your email address, a display name you choose, and (if you set one) an optional profile photo. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the name and the email address Apple provides. Your profile photo is stored only on your device and is never uploaded.
To do its job, the app stores the training information you create:
If you allow it, the app reads a limited set of data from Apple Health to save you typing and to enrich your insights:
Heart-rate readings recorded during a session are saved with that session in your account. The app also writes your completed breath-hold sessions to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes, and writes nothing else. You can turn Health access off at any time in the iOS Health app, and the app works without it.
ApneaStudio is a paid subscription with a free trial. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card or payment details. Apple tells us only whether your subscription is active, so we can unlock the app.
Your account and training data are stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which hosts the data securely on our behalf as our processor. We use Apple for sign-in, subscriptions and Apple Health. We do not share your data with anyone else, except where we are legally required to.
These providers may store data on servers outside the UK. Where they do, that transfer is covered by the safeguards those companies provide, such as standard contractual clauses.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (Profile then Delete Account), your account and all of the data above are permanently removed from our systems. You can also clear specific data with “Reset My Data” without deleting your account.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy of it. You can exercise most of these directly in the app; for anything else, email us and we will help. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
ApneaStudio is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
